Haibun #3

I originally was going to give a somewhat winded explanation as to why I wrote this haibun, but I decided against it. After all, a haibun is supposed to speak for itself, is it not? :-)

Haibun #3
It has been a hurried day. The morning was dangerously cold at only three degrees Fahrenheit; the air turned my unprotected hands a nasty shade of pink. I stressed myself with an unnecessary responsibility.

Haibun #2

I've written my second haibun today; I was inspired by the harsh winds that make their presence known during the harsh winter months here in Bowling Green. I had to write this one while I was in the frame of mind to write; unfortunately that happened during my Poetry Workshop class! (Sorry Theresa!)

Haibun #2

Roaring wind blows through my hair. My cheeks turn red against its freezing bite. The cold makes my nose drip.

A Brief Introduction, and a Haibun!

I was inspired by my professor Theresa Williams to create a blog to chronicle my journey of reconnecting with my Muse. I am a student in her poetry workshop class, which she recommended I take to help me condense my complex thinking. Our first unit we've covered in class this semester was Haiku (which I'll also be posting once I write more), and as a side project we have to create a Haibun journal. The best way that I can define "haibun" is how it was taught to us in class - prose and haiku combined.

I just completed my first Haibun for my journal and want to share it here with everyone.

Haibun #1

Skies are grey once again in Bowling Green. I saw the sun for a few brief moments. It had rained this morning.
